The Mental Health Awareness Programme, organized by Mahindians UAE, was successfully held on 8th October 2025 at Olcott Hall, marking a significant milestone in the association’s journey towards promoting holistic wellbeing within the Mahindian community.
The event featured two distinguished guest speakers of international repute:
• Prof. Athula Sumathipala (MBBS, DFM, MD, MRCPsych, PhD, FRCPsych)
Professor of Psychiatry, Keele University (UK) & Chairman, National Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka
• Dr. Rumi Ruban
Consultant Psychiatrist, Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya
The programme was thoughtfully structured into two sessions:
• One-hour lecture for students, focusing on mental resilience, emotional balance, and coping mechanisms.
• Two-hour workshop for teachers and parents, emphasizing understanding stress, preventing addiction, recognizing suicidal risks, and supporting academic and emotional wellbeing.
These engaging and insightful sessions had a profound impact, empowering students, parents, and teachers alike with valuable knowledge and practical tools to nurture mental wellness.
